Video: Newcastle 2-1 Arsenal: Gunners crash to fifth straight away defeat
Arsenal crashed to yet another away defeat after losing 2-1 to Newcastle United at St James’ Park this afternoon.
We started brightly and deservedly took the lead in the 14th minute when Aubameyang found Lacazette with a pin-point cross and his strike partner made it 1-0 with a wonderful volley.
However, Newcastle equalised in the 30th minute with a goal almost identical to Shane Long’s for Southampton last week. Perez got in front of Mustafi with a simple run and he swept home Yedlin’s cross to beat Cech at his near post once again.
We dominated the early parts of the second half but once again our vulnerable defence cost us as Newcastle cut us open and Ritchie fired home for 2-1 in the 69th minute.
We barely mustered a shot at goal in response so crashed to our fifth consecutive away defeat that leaves us six points off Chelsea and just two ahead of Burnley.
