Arsenal boss offers positive injury update on Ramsey & Mkhitaryan
Arsene Wenger has provided a team news update ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash with West Ham and he’s given some positive news on Aaron Ramsey and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Ramsey was left out of the squad for last weekend’s disappointing 2-1 defeat at Newcastle United after suffering a nasty cut to his leg during the draw at CSKA Moscow a few days earlier.
The Welsh international picked up the injury shortly before half time but was able to complete the full ninety minutes and score a late equaliser after having the wound stapled shut.
Wenger has confirmed Rambo isn’t yet in full contact training but is still practicing and will be available for selection against the Hammers this weekend.
There were fears Mkhitaryan could miss the rest of the season after suffering a knee ligament injury during the Europa League first leg win over CSKA Moscow at the start of the month.
However, Wenger insisted last week that the Armenian international would return before the end of April and it seems he’s well on course to meeting that target.
The boss confirmed this morning that Mkhitaryan is back running again and has a chance of being fit to face Atletico Madrid on Thursday if he progresses well over the coming days.
David Ospina is available again after recovering from an ankle injury that he picked up earlier this month but Jack Wilshere is a doubt to face West Ham.
The midfielder missed the Newcastle defeat with an ankle problem that he suffered against CSKA and it seems he could now sit things out once again this weekend.
Here’s what Wenger told reporters this morning:
Wenger is here: "We have some uncertainties about Wilshere, Mkhitaryan is not back. Ospina is available again of course. Ramsey has not participated in full training, will be available." #AFC

"Mkhitaryan is running again, he has to progress in the next three or four days. Possibly (fit for) Thursday, that is the earliest." #AFC
