Video: Chelsea 3-2 Arsenal: Gunners rue missed chances at the Bridge
Arsenal’s first half fightback was in vein as we left empty handed with Chelsea running out 3-2 victors at Stamford Bridge this evening.
It was a familiar feeling during a horrendous opening 30 minutes as Chelsea carved us open to race in to a 2-0 lead. First, they got in behind Bellerin to tee-up Pedro who swept home for 1-0 in the 9th minute.
We had a glorious chance to level things up but Aubameyang blazed over with the goal at his mercy and Chelsea went straight up the other end to make it 2-0 through Morata thanks to some woeful defending.
Mkhitaryan then missed a golden chance to make it 2-1 as he skied one but made amends as he fired home with a lovely strike from the edge of the area in the 37th minute.
A fascinating first half then ended 2-2 as another lovely move down the right led to Miki teeing-up Iwobi who cooly smashed home from 10 yards.
We were less of a threat after the break but our woes at the back continued as Chelsea snatched all three points in the 82nd minute when Alonso fired home after Lacazette had gifted them possession 25 yards from goal.
We couldn’t find another equaliser to start the season with consecutive defeats but Unai Emery will be ruing those missed chances in the first half.
