[Video] Arsenal handed major injury boost as key man returns to light training
Arsenal have been handed a major boost as Laurent Koscielny has stepped-up his rehabilitation from a serious Achilles injury after returning to light training today.
Koscielny has been on the sidelines since suffering the unfortunate injury during the early stages of our Europa League semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid last season.
The 32-year-old ruptured his Achilles in the 11th minute at the Wanda Metropolitano and not only missed Arsenal’s remaining matches but he was ruled out of the World Cup – cruelly missing France’s winning campaign.
However, Koscielny has taken a huge step in his rehab after returning to the training pitches at London Colney today. The clubs official Twitter account confirmed the news with a short video showing Kos walking out with Aaron Ramsey this morning.

Obviously it’s great to see Koscielny back on the training pitch but he’s still got a long road to recovery ahead of him and he’ll only be doing light individual training for the next few weeks.
The latest update from Arsenal suggests that our skipper won’t be available until November but his return can’t come soon enough as our defence has looked weak during our opening two games against Man City and Chelsea.
We’ve conceded five goals in those matches and I’m not convinced by either Sokratis or Shkodran Mustafi so it will be a huge boost when Koscielny is eventually available for selection again later this year.
