Video: Cardiff 2-3 Arsenal: Lacazette scores winner in five-goal thriller
Alexandre Lacazette scored the winner as Arsenal beat Cardiff City 3-2 in a five-goal thriller in Wales this afternoon.
Arsenal started well and opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Shkodran Mustafi powered home a header following a Granit Xhaka corner and it looked like he could go on to secure a comfortable lead.
We failed to push on and make the most of our possession and Xhaka’s wayward pass led to a Cardiff attack and Roberto Camarasa got a bit of luck before firing home the equaliser on the stroke of half-time.
However, we restored our lead in the 62nd minute and it was our big hitter who combined. Mesut Ozil fed Alexandre Lacazette who flicked on to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the striker curled home a lovely effort from 20 yards for 2-1.
Cardiff got themselves level in fortunate circumstances as they were gifted a free-kick in a dangerous position after a non-existent ‘foul’ by Lacazette. Predictably, we were made to pay as Danny Ward headed home for 2-2 in the 70th minute.
However, we managed to grab a third goal ten minutes later as Lucas Torreira found Lacazette and the striker turned smartly before firing in to the top near corner for 3-2.
