Team news: Arsenal confirm fresh injury blow ahead of Everton + Torreira update
Arsenal have revealed that Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a doubt for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Everton after picking up an ankle injury against Vorskla on Thursday night.
Mkhitaryan completed the full ninety minutes against the Ukrainian’s and produced an excellent performance as he provided two assists to help Arsenal ease to a comfortable 4-2 victory at the Emirates.
Goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang [2], Danny Welbeck and Mesut Ozil put Arsenal in control and although the visitors scored two late crackers to take some shine off the scoreline, we eased to our first three points in the Europa League group stages.
However, it seems Miki picked up an ankle injury against Vorskla and the club suggest the playmaker will need to be assessed ahead of Sunday’s visit of Everton to north London.
A team news update on Arsenal.com also confirmed that Sead Kolasinac is on course to return to full training in early October after making a swift recovery from a knee injury that he sustained in pre-season.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles is also expected to resume training at the start of next month after making excellent progress in his recovery from a fractured leg that he suffered against Manchester City on the opening weekend of the season.
Laurent Koscielny is still working on his fitness on the training pitches as he aims to return in November following a serious Achilles injury while Carl Jenkinson should be available again in early October after an ankle injury.
The team news update on Arsenal.com read:

Unai Emery also offered an update on Lucas Torreira after the game last night after the Uruguayan international was forced off with a knee injury during the win over Vorskla.
Torreira picked up the problem in the first half but eventually went off shortly after the break when the score was at 3-0. Emery says the midfielder will be checked over but hopes he’ll be available to face Everton.
Emery is quoted as saying by Arsenal.com:
on whether Lucas Torreira is okay or if he has a knock on his knee…
Each match we play, I am responsible for the group and for Torreira also, today I think it is better [for Lucas] to leave the match. I hope that tomorrow and Saturday, he will be okay for Sunday.
The fact Torreira wasn’t included in today’s team news update on Arsenal.com suggests either his injury is minor and he’s fit to face Everton or it’s too early for the club to make an assessment over his availability. Let’s hope he’s fit as I’d love to see him start against the Toffees.
