[Ratings] Arsenal 2-0 Everton: Cech stars, Torreira impressive but Mustafi woeful
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette were both on target as Arsenal beat Everton 2-0 at the Emirates this afternoon.
We were poor in the first half as it ended 0-0 with Petr Cech making a number of fine saves to keep the scoreline level but Lacazette broke the deadlock after the break with a stunning effort. Aubameyang sealed the three points with an offside goal a few minutes later to secure our five consecutive Premier League victory.
Here are my ratings:
Cech 8.5/10 | MOTM. Made two excellent saves with his body/feet in the first half to keep it at 0-0 and made several other smart saves to secure his first clean sheet of the season. Superb performance from the 36-year-old.
Bellerin 6/10 | Wasn’t as influential as usual going forward as he was pegged back by Richarlison. The Everton man gave him plenty of problems down that side of the pitch.
Sokratis 6/10 | Was playing pretty well before limping off just before half time with a dead leg.
Mustafi 5.5/10 | A disaster waiting to happen today. Sloppy passing at times and gave away some silly free-kicks. Looked nervous throughout.
Monreal 6.5/10 | Went close to opening the scoring and dealt with Theo Walcott well.
Xhaka 7/10 | Poor in the first half but much improved after the break. Still a liability when we don’t have the ball but he was important to our build-up play.
Torreira 7/10 | Great to see him make his full league debut and he definitely made a difference in midfield. Sat in front of the back four, broke up play and made some great interceptions. Kept things single with the ball and could perhaps have been a little more adventurous but impressive display.
Ramsey 6/10 | Assisted both goals but was an average performance overall from Rambo. I still think he’s far more influential in a deeper midfield role.
Ozil 6/10 | No idea why he opted to pass instead of shooting when through on goal. His pass fortunately led to the second goal but he should have had the confidence to shoot. Had a few moments of quality but not involved enough. Needs to play in the No.10 not out wide.
Lacazette 7.5/10 | Stunning goal to open the scoring. Had done very little up until that point but it was a vital opening goal and that’s what strikers are paid to do. Such a lethal finisher. Played his part in the second goal too.
Aubameyang 6.5/10 | Nice finish to make it 2-0 [even if he was offside] but struggled to really influence things from out wide. Still not convinced playing him on the left will get the best from him.

Holding 6.5/10 | Replaced Sokratis and didn’t put a foot wrong. Sold throughout.
Iwobi 6/10 | Gave us fresh legs for the final 20.
Welbeck N/A | Only on for the last 10 minutes.
