[Player Ratings] Fulham 1-5 Arsenal: Lacazette & Aubameyang superb but Torreira MOTM
Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang both scored twice as Arsenal thrashed Fulham 5-1 at Craven Cottage this afternoon but Lucas Torreira was my Man of the Match.
Lacazette made it 1-0 before Fulham levelled things up just before half time. We restored our advantage after the break thanks to another fine Lacazette finish before Aaron Ramsey came off the bench to make it 3-1 with a stunning team goal.
Aubameyang then wrapped things up with a late double to make it 5-1 and secure our ninth consecutive victory in all competitions that moves us up to third in the Premier League table.
Here are my ratings:
Leno 7/10 | Great early save from a deflected effort and could do little to prevent the Schurrle goal. Distribution was very good.
Bellerin 7/10 | Loose pass early on almost led to a Fulham goal and struggled in the first half. But excellent after the break as he almost scored a superb goal early in the second half, played a key role in the third before setting up the fourth.
Holding 7/10 | Another steady performance from Holding. Didn’t really put a foot wrong and made some important blocks.
Mustafi 7/10 | A surprisingly good display. Very composed and made a couple of superb tackles. More of the same please.
Monreal 6.5/10 | Set up Lacazette’s goal but poor pass led to the Fulham equaliser.
Torreira 8.5/10 | Excellent performance from our summer signing. Protected the defence, cut out any Fulham attacks with countless interceptions and dictated the tempo from deep. He’s going to be a huge player for us.
Xhaka 7/10 | Showcased some fine range of passing at times to start counter-attacks. Forming an exciting partnership with Torreira as his defensive weaknesses aren’t so exposed.
Mkhitaryan 6.5/10 | Played his part in a couple of the goals and was neat on the ball but overshadowed by his team mates today.
Iwobi 7.5/10 | A real threat down the left and played his part in the opener. His trickery was a problem for Fulham, especially in the first half.
Welbeck 6.5/10 | Assisted Lacazette’s crucial second goal and worked hard for the team but played in the shadow of Lacazette/Aubameyang/etc.
Lacazette 8/10 | Lovely control and finish to make it 1-0 and another superb strike to make it 2-1 in the second half. Such a lethal finisher.

Aubameyang 8/10 | Assisted Ramsey’s goal and made it 4-1 with a superb finish. Wrapped things up with a late fifth thanks to a lovely low effort. Excellent impact off the bench.
Ramsey 8/10 | What an introduction! Scored a superb back heel goal with his first touch and set-up Aubameyang for his second.
