Video: Man Utd 2-2 Arsenal: Woeful defending costs Gunners two points at Old Trafford
Arsenal wasted a great opportunity to collect all three points as some shocking defending saw us throw away the lead twice to draw 2-2 with Manchester United at Old Trafford.
We rode an early storm from United and opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Shkodran Mustafi’s header was fumbled by David De Gea and fortunately the ball just crossed the line before Ander Herrera hooked it clear.
However, United got lucky at the other end as they were gifted a fortunate free-kick as it looked like Anthony Martial went down easily 25 yards out. Bernd Leno palmed away the resulting free-kick but the ball fell to Ander Herrera – who was offside – and he squared for Martial to make it 1-1 from close range.
We made it 2-1 in the 68th minute as Alexandre Lacazette came off the bench to poke home under pressure from Chris Smalling but once again we couldn’t hold on to our lead as some poor defending from Kolasinac gifted United an equaliser. Jesse Linagrd poked home just 13 seconds from the restart.
We had the chances to win it as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan both missed sitters while we also had two goals ruled out so we had to settle for a 2-2 draw. It extends our unbeaten run to 20 games but it feels like two points dropped.
Here are the goals:
