4-3-1-2: Ozil & Ramsey start | Arsenal’s strongest line-up to face Man Utd
Arsenal take on Manchester United in the fourth round of the FA Cup at the Emirates on Friday evening. This is the line-up I’d like Unai Emery to select…
Goalkeeper: Cech
Cech is our ‘cup keeper’ and he played in the 3rd round so I hope we see the retiring Czech legend start tomorrow night. Leno is likely to be on the bench as Martinez has joined Reading on loan.
Defence: Maitland-Niles, Koscielny, Sokratis, Kolasinac
Emery went with a back four against Chelsea and worked it a treat during the impressive 2-0 win so I reckon the boss should stick with that system against Man Utd. Koscielny was back to his best with a superb performance so hopefully he continues alongside Sokratis at the back with Mustafi once again consigned to the bench.
Obviously we’ll be without Bellerin as he’s been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee ligament injury that he suffered against Chelsea. Lichtsteiner is an option but he’s been in woeful form whenever he’s played lately so I pray Emery gives Maitland-Niles a chance. Kolasinac has become a vital part of our attacking play down the left so he should keep his place ahead of Monreal.
Midfield: Torreira, Xhaka, Ramsey
Arsenal went with a diamond in midfield against Chelsea and it worked well so it makes sense to stick with it against United on Friday night. Xhaka should sit at the base to dictate the tempo of the game in front of the defence with Torreira playing slightly ahead of the Swiss international.
Guendouzi seems to be firmly in favour under Emery and I do think he is a huge talent but I’d love to see Ramsey played in his proper position. He may be leaving at the end of the season but we should make good use of him while he’s still around and I’d like to see him in the No.8 box-to-box role tomorrow night.
Attack: Ozil, Aubameyang, Lacazette
Ozil once again failed to get on the pitch last weekend but I hope Emery is considering recalling him against United. Ozil is the perfect player to play in the No.10 role behind the front two and it’s time we integrate him back in to the team.
This mess can’t continue any longer as it’s a total waste to leave our most creative player out in the cold. Let’s give Ozil the platform to showcase his talent and prove he deserves to be in the starting eleven. Mesut often saves some of his best performances for the big homes games so I’m backing him to produce the goods if he starts against Man Utd.
The German playmaker would have a field day supplying Aubameyang and Lacazette, as I hope Emery persists with the two strikers up front tomorrow night. We are such a threat with Auba/Laca up front together and with Ozil in behind, I think we’d give United plenty of problems.
Here is the side I hope we’ll see:
