Player arrives in London to undergo Arsenal medical, could make debut vs Man City
According to the Express, Denis Suarez has arrived in London and will undergo his medical with Arsenal this afternoon ahead of an initial six-month loan from Barcelona.
After weeks of negotiations, Arsenal finally reached an agreement with the Catalans yesterday that will see us sign Suarez on loan until the end of the season with an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.
The Express claim we’d have to pay £20m to buy the midfielder outright and the breakthrough in negotiations came after Suarez agreed to sign a one-year contract extension at the Nou Camp before he leaves.
That will protect his value in-case Arsenal decide against making his loan move permanent, so Suarez was given the green-light to travel to London on Wednesday morning to finalise his switch to the Emirates.
The Express are reporting that the 25-year-old is now in London and will undergo his medical at London Colney this afternoon before becoming our first signing of the January transfer window.
Suarez will link-up with Unai Emery once again having worked together during their time at Sevilla where he was mainly used as a winger – although the Spaniard is also comfortable as an attacking central midfielder.
As long as there are no late complications, the report says Suarez should be available to make his Arsenal debut against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Emery has made no secret of his desire to strengthen his squad this month and Suarez will bring with him some much needed creativity in the final third so I think this is a good piece of business by Arsenal.

The club are reportedly still working on bringing in a second signing before the window shuts on Thursday night with Yannick Carrasco the name being strongly linked this afternoon.
