3-4-1-2: Ozil & Ramsey to start | Arsenal’s best line-up to face Huddersfield
Arsenal can move level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea with a win over Huddersfield at the John Smiths’ Stadium on Saturday afternoon. This is the line-up I’d like Unai Emery to select…
Goalkeeper: Leno
Leno is our number one and despite shipping three goals at Man City last weekend he was one of our best players and he kept the score-line reasonable so obviously the German should keep his place tomorrow.
Defence: Maitland-Niles, Koscielny, Monreal, Kolasinac
We went with a back three at City but I’d go with a flat four tomorrow. Ainsley Maitland-Niles should be available again after returning to full training following a knee injury so hopefully we see him replacing the hapless Stephan Lichtsteiner at right-back with Hector Bellerin obviously out.
Shkodran Mustafi is expected to shake-off a minor knock which forced him off during Arsenal’s defeat at City but I’d like to see Nacho Monreal alongside Laurent Koscielny in the middle of defence as he never lets us down.
Sead Kolasinac is more suited to the wing-back role but he can still be influential at left-back. Sokratis remains out with an ankle injury so he’s on the sidelines with Rob Holding.
Midfield: Torreira, Guendouzi, Ramsey
I’d like to see us play the diamond in midfield with Lucas Torreira sitting in front of the back four and given strict instructions to play as a specialist holding midfielder.
Granit Xhaka is set to miss out again with a groin injury that kept him out of the Man City game so Matteo Guendouzi should keep his place. The youngster was Arsenal’s best outfield player last weekend so hopefully we see him performing well again tomorrow.
Aaron Ramsey may be leaving at the end of the season but you can’t fault his commitment as he continues to give his all for the club, and I hope he starts in his preferred No.8 position against Huddersfield.
Attack: Ozil, Aubameyang, Lacazette
Ozil didn’t even get off the bench at City and Emery will probably leave him out again tomorrow but I think this is a great opportunity to bring him back in to the side and get a performance out of him. Huddersfield have been dire all season so Ozil should be able to dominate a game like this and it might give him the morale-boost he clearly needs.
Many people are calling for Denis Suarez to be handed his full debut but I thought he looked lightweight during his cameo off the bench last week and I think it’s going to take him some time to adjust to life in England.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan is back in contention after recovering from a foot injury but after so long on the sidelines I think he’ll be eased back in to first team action. A place on the bench alongside Alex Iwobi is expected tomorrow.
I hope Emery starts both Aubameyang and Lacazette up front again and those two could have a lot of joy against a poor Huddersfield defence if Ozil was supplying the bullets from the No.10 role.
Here is the side I hope we’ll see:
