[Photos] Arsenal handed double injury boost as duo train ahead of Bournemouth
Arsenal have been handed a double injury boost with Alex Iwobi and Stephan Lichtsteiner snapped in training ahead of Wednesday night’s clash with Bournemouth.
Iwobi was considered as a doubt for the game tomorrow night after limping off with a calf injury during the second half of Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Southampton at the weekend.
The club confirmed earlier today that the Nigerian international would need to be assessed before his availability was determined but it looks like Iwobi should be in the squad tomorrow as he was able to take part in full training this afternoon.
Lichtstiener was also facing a late fitness test ahead of the visit of Bournemouth to the Emirates after being forced off with a back injury against Southampton on Sunday afternoon.
However, the issue was only minor and the 35-year-old looks to have made a swift recovery as Lichtsteiner has also been snapped taking part in full training with the rest of the squad at London Colney today.
With Ainsley Maitland-Niles also back in contention after recovering from illness, it means Arsenal should only be without long-term absentees Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding and Danny Welbeck tomorrow night.
Emery may decide to freshen things up against the Cherries with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Laurent Koscielny, Matteo Guendouzi, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Denis Suarez all pushing for recalls.
