Arsenal looking to secure deal to sign £30m attacker + Emery eyes Bundesliga star
The summer transfer season is already in full swing and there has been plenty of Arsenal-related gossip flying around. Here I bring you the latest news on Ryan Fraser and Dayot Upamecano.
According to Football London, Arsenal have made signing Ryan Fraser a top priority and we’re hoping to secure a deal to land the £30m-rated Bournemouth attacker – although we may have to wait until later in the summer.
We lack any real width in the squad at present so it’s good to hear Unai Emery is planning to rectify that by signing a natural winger this summer and Fraser has emerged as a key transfer target after enjoying a superb campaign on the south coast.
The 25-year-old contributed 8 goals and 15 assists in all competitions from the left wing for Bournemouth last season so he’d definitely bring some much-needed creativity from the flanks if he joined Arsenal.
Football London journalist James Benge says negotiations over a deal are expected to pick up after Fraser represents Scotland in their Euro 2020 qualifiers against Cyprus and Belgium next week.
Benge claims Bournemouth want £30m for the winger but Arsenal are hoping to secure a deal closer to £20m due to the fact Fraser is about to enter the final year of his contract and has made it clear he won’t sign a new deal.
Latest on interest in Ryan Fraser, now in video form. Would not expect this to be a deal that is done very soon, particularly as Arsenal's negotiating position improves the longer this drags into the window. pic.twitter.com/hLo4sKXVMs

So we’re about £10m apart in our valuations and we all know Arsenal are useless at negotiating so Benge believes this transfer could drag throughout the summer but he feels Fraser is eventually likely to sign for the Gunners.
We also desperately need to improve the defence and the Mirror claim that Arsenal are eyeing a swoop for RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano after failing in our pursuit of Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti.
We shipped 51 goals in the Premier League alone last season and our ageing defence needs a complete overhaul. Stephan Lichtstiener is leaving after a disastrous spell while Nacho Monreal, Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny are all being linked with moves.
We need to sign at least one commanding centre-back and the Mirror says Arsenal have stepped-up their interest in Upamecano after Emery sent his scouts to watch the RB Leipzig star in action for the French U21s on Monday night.
The 20-year-old still has two years left on his contract and Leipzig want to keep him but the report says Upamecano may be tempted by the idea of playing for Arsenal in the Premier League – even though we can’t offer him Champions League football.
The Frenchman would be an exciting addition to the squad as he’s already one of the most talented defenders in the Bundesliga and has his whole career ahead of him so I’d love to see us sign him this summer.
