Report: Arsenal make offer to sign sought-after £35m Spanish attacker
According to Italian publication Milan News, Arsenal have made an offer for Suso but face competition from the likes of Tottenham and Atletico Madrid to sign the £35m-rated AC Milan attacker.
Unai Emery is looking to strengthen his squad this summer following a frustrating campaign and a new wide attacker is needed as we had limited options from the wing last season.
It looks like Suso has now emerged as a potential target as Italian newspaper Milan News are reporting that Arsenal have put forward an unspecified offer for the Spanish international.
The publication says AC Milan chiefs held talks about Suso’s future this week and assessed the offers on the table with Tottenham, West Ham and Atletico Madrid all reportedly joining Arsenal in making a move to sign the 25-year-old.
It’s not stated in the report what any offers are worth but CalcioMercato claim Suso’s release clause is set at around £35m [€40m] so you’d expect AC Milan will want close to that figure if they’re to cash-in.
The San Siro club need to sell at least one of their valuable assets in order to balance the book to comply with Financial Fair Play after missing out on the top four and it appears Suso could be the player sacrificed.
The Spaniard has predominantly played on the right-wing for Milan but he can also play as a central attacking midfielder and he has previous experience in English football having spent five years at Liverpool between 2010 and 2015.
Suso only made 14 first team appearances during his time at Anfield but he’s developed into a top class player in Italy and he contributed 8 goals and 9 assists in 41 games last season.
Obviously there is still a long way to go before any potential deal is finalised but I think Suso would be a solid addition to the squad if Arsenal could get a deal agreed this summer.
