Arsenal register interest in signing in-demand midfielder, deal will cost £15m
According to Football London, Arsenal have registered their interest in signing Dominik Szoboszlai and will have to pay RB Salzburg around £15m in order to land the talented midfielder this summer.
Unai Emery is in the market for an all-action midfielder to replace Aaron Ramsey following his free transfer move to Juventus and the report says Arsenal have now identified Szoboszlai as a potential target.
The 18-year-old joined RB Salzburg in January 2018 and established himself in the first team last season with the teenager contributing an impressive 11 goals and 10 assists in his 29 appearances in all competitions.
Szoboszlai’s potential has seemingly alerted Arsenal as Football London claim we’ve now registered our interest in signing the youngster this summer but we’ll face plenty of competition as Juventus, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Lazio are also in the race for his signature.
The report says RB Salzburg are keen to keep hold of one of their brightest prospects so the Austrian outfit will demand around £15m for Szoboszlai’s services – although Arsenal are yet to table a formal offer.
The midfielder’s agent, Matyas Esterhazy, has told Football London that a number of Premier League clubs are interested in Szoboszlai but he refused to name any names.
“I can confirm a number of the top Premier League clubs are interested in Dominik but at this point I can not confirm or deny specific clubs,” Szoboszlai’s agent told football.london.
Emery is working on a tight budget of around £45m this summer after failing to qualify for the Champions League next season and he’s reportedly in the market for a new midfielder, winger, centre-back and left-back.
It would be a bold move to use 1/3 of our budget on a relatively unproven teenager but Arsenal can’t afford to buy ready-made stars so Szoboszlai is the type of ‘risky’ signing we’re going to have to make.
