Offer made: Arsenal in advanced talks over £28.7m deal to sign Spanish star
According to Spanish outlet AS, Arsenal are in advanced negotiations with Real Madrid over a deal to sign Lucas Vazquez after submitting an opening bid worth £28.7m plus £2.7m add-ons for the winger.
Unai Emery is keen to strengthen his squad this summer and a winger is on the agenda as we lack any genuine width right now. We’ve been strongly linked with Wilfried Zaha this week but with Crystal Palace demanding £80m it looks like we’ve turned to an alternative target.
Spanish publication AS claims Arsenal are in advanced negotiations with Madrid over a deal to sign Vazquez after submitting a formal offer worth £28.7m [32m] up front plus £2.7m [€3m] in add-ons.
The report suggests Madrid may be happy to accept Arsenal’s offer as they’re keen to offload Vazquez after splashing out big-money on Eden Hazard, Rodrygo and Luka Jovic this summer.
The 28-year-old already struggled to secure regular football last season and Zinedine Zidane has made it clear his game-time will be limited next year so Vazquez is reportedly ready to leave the Bernabeu in search of first team football ahead of Euro 2020.
It appears Arsenal are hoping to lure him to North London and AS claims Vazquez is open to the idea of moving to the Emirates as long as we offer him a suitable financial package.
Madrid fly off to the United States for their pre-season tour on Tuesday so the Spanish daily newspaper suggests a deal could be wrapped-up on Monday if Arsenal can get personal terms agreed over the weekend.
It’s reported that Unai Emery is pushing the signing as he’s seemingly a big fan of the Spanish international but Arsenal aren’t the only club in the running as AS claim Inter Milan, PSG and Bayern Munich are also keeping an eye on the situation.
They are three big and powerful clubs who could blow Arsenal out of the water if they formalise their interest so we may want to get a deal agreed with Vazquez swiftly or we risk losing out on another target.
