Arsenal to table big-money attacker bid + eye swoop to sign 24-year-old Serie A star
It’s been another hectic day of Arsenal transfer news so here I will bring updates on Arsenal’s bid to sign Wilfried Zaha, Kieran Tierney and Daniele Rugani.
Unai Emery is desperate to add a pacey winger to his ranks and contrary to some reports suggesting we’d given up hope of signing Zaha, Kaveh Solhekol says we’re ready to submit another offer.
The Sky Sports reporter says the renewed bid will be significantly higher than our opening £40m offer but it remains to be seen how close it will go to Crystal Palace’s reported £80m valuation.
There is no doubt Arsenal need a tricky winger like Zaha but I hope we don’t push the boat out too much for the 26-year-old as I don’t think he’s worth over £50m and there is better value to be had in the market.
Another player who’s been strongly linked with a move is Tierney and Solhekol says Arsenal’s talks with Celtic are progressing as we look to finally get a deal agreed with the Scottish champs.
The Sky Sports reporter tweeted:
Arsenal have not given up on signing Zaha & Tierney. Tierney talks progressing about structuring deal acceptable to Celtic. Everyone working hard to make deal happen. On Zaha, Arsenal expected to make new offer which will be “considerably higher” than first offer of £40m
Celtic weren’t happy with the structure of our last £25m offer as it included too many add-ons linked to us qualifying for the Champions League but I think we’ll get a deal agreed in the end.
Tierney would be a big upgrade on Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac at left-back so fingers crossed we can get that deal over the line before the window closes in 15 days time.
Arsenal are on the verge of signing William Saliba but the defender will be immediately loaned back to Saint-Etienne for next season so we’re still reportedly in the market for another centre-back.
With Laurent Koscielny expected to head back to France after refusing to go on tour and the club desperately trying to offload the hapless Shkodran Mustafi, it’s clear we need an established centre-back this summer as our defence was woeful last season.
According to The Sun, Arsenal are ready to renew their interest in signing Daniele Rugani as Juventus prepare to sell the talented defender following the arrival of Matthijs De Ligt.
Rugani has long been linked with a move to the Emirates and with the 24-year-old set to fall even further down the pecking order next season, Arsenal could offer him a fresh start here in England.
I think the Italian international would be an excellent signing and I’d love to see him come in to replace Koscielny this summer but we’ll have to wait and see if anything can be agreed with Juventus.
