Liverpool v Arsenal: Early preview, betting odds and tips

By on August 17, 2019

Arsenal’s 100 percent record this season will be under serious threat when we head to Anfield to take on Liverpool on Saturday evening.

Unai Emery led Arsenal to a hard fought 1-0 victory over Newcastle United at St James’ Park on the opening weekend of the new campaign before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the winner during a 2-1 win over Burnley last time out.

It means Arsenal have won each of their opening two league games for the first time in 10 years but it’s going to be an extremely difficult take to extend our winning run to three matches as we’ll take on the reigning European Champions on Saturday.

Aside from Arsenal, Liverpool are the only other team to have won their first two matches after they registered victories over Norwich City and Southampton so something has to give at Anfield this weekend.

Arsenal don’t have good memories of recent trips to Liverpool as we were thrashed 5-1 in this fixture last season and lost 3-1 and 4-0 in the previous two meetings at Anfield so we have to improve upon that record on Saturday.

Betting odds

Liverpool are the 8/15 favourites to win the game with Betfair – which is one of the best online gambling sites according to gamblerock so it’s a safe place to bet your money. Arsenal can be backed at odds of 9/2 and that may tempt some hard-core Gunners fans considering our impressive start to the new campaign. Some Arsenal supporters would take a draw right now and that is available at odds of 18/5.

Betting tips

Arsenal have started the campaign on a positive note and improved the squad with some excellent signings in the summer so there are reasons to be optimistic heading into this game. Obviously Liverpool will fancy their chances as they’re formidable at Anfield but I’m quietly confident we can take something back to north London.

Liverpool’s defence has looked dodgy so far this season so ‘both teams to score’ at odds of 1/2 is a solid bet while over 3.5 goals at 11/10 is also tempting considering the number of goals we’ve seen in this fixture in recent years.

I’m going to predict a 2-2 draw – which can be backed at odds of 12/1. Liverpool usually start well at home so Sadio Mane to score first at odds of 4/1 looks tempting. However, I fancy Arsenal to come strong in the second half to snatch a draw with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score last at odds of 13/2 an excellent bet.

For those who want even higher odds, back Mane to score first in a 2-2 draw at odds of 85/1.
