[Photos] Bellerin & Tierney snapped in full training to hand Arsenal huge injury boost
Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney have been pictured back in full training today, handing Arsenal boss Unai Emery a huge injury boost.
Bellerin has been on the sidelines with a knee ligament injury which he sustained during the win over Chelsea back in January of last season and he’s been making steady progress in his recovery over the summer.
However, after taking part in light training in recent weeks, Bellerin has now resumed full training with the rest of the squad as he closes-in on making his long-awaited return to the first team.
New signing Tierney is yet to feature for Arsenal after joining the club from Celtic on deadline day carrying a niggling groin injury and we’ve been cautious not to rush the Scottish international back too soon.
But Tierney has also been pictured training with the rest of the first team squad today at London Colney as Emery and his coaching staff put the players through their paces ahead of Saturday’s clash with Watford.
Bellerin and Tierney won’t be available for the trip to Vicarage Road as they still need to build-up their fitness. Hector in particular is going to need time before he’ll be in contention after 9 months on the sidelines and I expect he’ll turn out for the U23s a few times before Emery will consider him for the first team.
However, it’s great to see the duo back in full training and it will be a huge boost when Bellerin and Tierney are available again as they will be our first choice full-backs who will be massive additions to the defence.
Nicolas Pepe, Lucas Torreira, Granit Xhaka and Joe Willock were also in training today easing fears over their fitness after they reportedly picked up knocks while on international duty so Emery’s squad looks to be in good health.
