Will Bellerin, Holding or Tierney start vs Forest? See the latest Arsenal team news
Arsenal will take on Nottingham Forest in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night. Here is the latest team news ahead of the game…
Obviously Unai Emery will make wholesale changes from the side that beat Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon with key men rested but one player who will be forced to miss out tomorrow is Ainsley Maitland-Niles as he’s suspended following his dismissal yesterday.
Alexandre Lacazette remains on the sidelines as he’s still recovering from a troublesome ankle injury that’s hampered him all season and the striker isn’t due to be available again until some point in October.
However, there should be some welcome good news on Tuesday as Rob Holding is available for selection and is expected to make his long-awaited first team comeback by starting against Forest after recovering from a knee ligament injury.
Hector Bellerin is also closing-in on making his return from a knee ligament injury after resuming full training earlier this month. The Spaniard played 62 minutes for the U23s on Friday but isn’t likely to feature against Forest as Emery will give him more time to work on his match fitness before bringing him into the first team fold.
Kieran Tierney is closer to being available for selection as he’s recently recovered from a groin injury and also played just over an hour for the academy side on Friday. There is a slight chance he could be in the squad to face Forest on Tuesday but I don’t think Emery will risk him just yet.
The only other injury concern for Arsenal is Dinos Mavropanos as he’s not featured for the first team all year due to a groin injury. However, he come through 90 minutes with the U23s against Wolves so he may be back in the squad for the League Cup clash tomorrow.
