[Photos] 18-year-old trains with Arsenal first team, expected to make squad vs Man Utd
Bukayo Saka trained with the first team on Sunday and is expected to be in Arsenal’s squad for Monday night’s clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The 18-year-old has broken into Unai Emery’s squad recently having starred during a 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League 10 days ago. Saka scored a fine goal and picked up two assists in that game and kept his place in Emery’s starting eleven for the Premier League clash with Aston Villa last weekend.
The winger then got another 45 minutes under his belt during the 5-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night and the teenager is fully expected to be in the squad for Arsenal’s huge trip to Man Utd tomorrow evening.
I, like many fans, would like to see Saka start at Old Trafford and no doubt he was out to impress Emery and his coaching staff during our final training session at London Colney this afternoon.
The boys looked in relaxed mood as they prepared for tomorrow’s game with Kieran Tierney and Rob Holding involved in full training as they prepare to make their first appearances in the Premier League this season.
Both defenders started against Forest in the cup last week after recovering from long-term injuries and are expected to feature against United tomorrow which will be a huge boost as they’ll certainly strengthen our defensive options.
However, there was no sign of Hector Bellerin at training today as he’s set to miss the trip to Old Trafford after playing for the Arsenal U23s against Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.
Bellerin made his first team comeback after playing the final 15 minutes of the League Cup tie last week and some fans hoped he’d be involved against United. However, the club decided to give Hector 90 minutes with the U23s instead so he won’t be available tomorrow night.
Here are some photos from today’s session:
