[Image] Exciting 4-3-3 Arsenal line-up to face Vitoria: Nelson returns, No Xhaka
Arsenal can all-but secure qualification to the knockout stages of the Europa League with a win over Vitoria in Portugal on Wednesday afternoon. This is the line-up I’d like Unai Emery to select…
Goalkeeper: Martinez
Bernd Leno has travelled but he’s set to drop to the bench with Emi Martinez coming back into the starting eleven.
Defence: Maitland-Niles, Mustafi, Holding, Kolasinac
David Luiz and Calum Chambers have been left back in north London to rest. Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney have both made the trip to Portugal but I hope they aren’t risked as they should both start against Leicester at the weekend.
I’d like to see Ainsley Maitland-Niles starting at right-back with Sead Kolasinac coming-in on the left side of the Arsenal defence. Rob Holding should line-up alongside Shkodran Mustafi in the middle of the back four with Sokratis on the bench.
Midfield: Torreira, Ceballos, Willock
Arsenal confirmed earlier this evening that Granit Xhaka hasn’t been included in the travelling squad so he’ll miss his third consecutive game following his bust-up with the fans against Crystal Palace late last month.
Joe Willock is almost certain to start in midfield with Matteo Guendouzi rested and I’d go with a 4-3-3 formation with Dani Ceballos and Lucas Torreira joining Willock in the middle of the park.
Emile Smith Rowe has been ruled out of the game with a minor calf injury while Mesut Ozil has been left in north London to rest so I think this is the best formation for Arsenal to go with from the players available.
Attack: Nelson, Saka, Martinelli
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hasn’t travelled so he’ll have his feet up at home tomorrow. Alexandre Lacazette is in the squad but hopefully he’ll be named on the bench as he should be saved for the Leicester game on Saturday.
Gabriel Martinelli is set to lead the line up front for Arsenal and I’m excited to see him in action again. He’s a huge talent and has been in excellent form whenever he’s started in the cups this season so hopefully he can get himself among the goals again tomorrow.
Nicolas Pepe is in the squad and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him starting after he failed to feature during the 1-1 draw with Wolves. However, I would start him at Leicester and leave him on the bench against Vitoria.
Reiss Nelson is back in the squad after recovering from a knee injury so I’d start him on the right with Bukayo Saka coming in on the left side of the Arsenal attack.
This is the starting eleven I hope we’ll see from Arsenal:
