[Image] Pepe starts: The 4-2-3-1 Arsenal line-up Freddie should pick vs Brighton
Freddie Ljungberg needs to get Arsenal back to winning ways when we take on Brighton at the Emirates tomorrow night. This is the line-up I’d like Freddie to select…
Defence
Ljungberg made a couple of controversial decisions in his first game in charge as Shkodran Mustafi was recalled in defence. Safe to say it was a poor call as the German was unsurprisingly woeful during the 2-2 draw with Norwich. Sead Kolasinac was also picked ahead of Kieran Tierney at left-back. Maybe the club are still being cautious with Tierney following his injury but he should 100% be starting ahead of Kolasinac tomorrow, if fit.
Hector Bellerin has been in training so he looks to be over his hamstring issue and should start in place of Calum Chambers at right-back. Rob Holding is also pushing for a recall so I’d like to see him starting alongside Chambers in the middle of the back four. Sokratis and David Luiz have been shocking this season so I’d give our English lads a chance to form a partnership. They can’t do any worse.
Bernd Leno should keep his place in goal with Emi Martinez dropping to the bench.
Midfield
Arsenal lined-up with a fluid 4-3-3 against Norwich but I think our best formation with the players available is 4-2-3-1. Lucas Torreira has to start as he need a ball-winner in midfield and someone to protect the defence but he needs a body next to him.
Granit Xhaka started against Norwich but I’d like to see Matteo Guendouzi alongside Torreira. Joe Willock is a favourite of Ljungberg’s from there time in the U23s so it was no surprise he started at Carrow Road. However, Willock struggled and I would drop him against Brighton.
Dani Ceballos remains out with a hamstring injury but hopefully he’ll be back in training soon.
Attack
A 4-2-3-1 would allow Mesut Ozil to play in the No.10 role and with two pacey wide men we could get the best out of him. Nicolas Pepe hasn’t featured recently and Ljungberg has hinted he isn’t training hard enough. I pray this isn’t the start of a messy fall out as the last thing we need is the club isolating our record signing. I’d like to see Pepe given a chance to impress the new boss with a start tomorrow.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang bagged another brace at Norwich and there is an argument he should be leading the line up front for Arsenal. However, we need to get Alexandre Lacazette in the team too so I’d go with Auba from the wing with Laca up top.
Gabriel Martinelli should be next in line to start if Ljungberg wants to change things up as he’s been impressive this season while Bukayo Saka and Reiss Nelson are other options for the interim Arsenal boss.
This is the starting eleven I hope we’ll see from Arsenal:
