Arsenal team news: 3 players fit to face Newcastle + huge Tierney update
Arsenal have provided a team news and injury update ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Newcastle United and there is positive news on several players.
Mikel Arteta will have options at left-back as both Sead Kolasinac and Bukayo Saka have been passed fit for the game this weekend. Kolasinac has missed Arsenal’s last four games with a thigh injury while Saka limped off against Burnley last time out but the duo are both fit and available for selection against Newcastle.
In a triple injury boost for the Gunners boss, young attacker Reiss Nelson is also in contention after recovering from a hamstring injury that’s kept him out of action for the past month.
Arsenal also provided a huge update on Kieran Tierney to confirm the Scottish international is due to resume full training by the end of the month. Tierney has been on the sidelines since undergoing shoulder surgery late last year and was initially pencilled-in to return to training in March. However, he’s made good progress in his recovery and is set to make his comeback by the end of February, which will be a big boost.
January signing Pablo Mari has been working hard in training since arriving on loan from Flamengo two weeks ago. The centre-back hasn’t played competitive football since starring in the Club World Cup final against Liverpool in December so he’s lacking match fitness. The Newcastle game will come too soon but Mari could be in the squad for Arsenal’s trip to Olympiacos next Thursday.
Cedric Soares won’t be available this weekend either as he’s still recovering from a knee injury that he was carrying when he arrived on loan from Southampton on deadline day while Calum Chambers is out for up to nine months with an ACL injury.

It’s a big boost to have Kolasinac and Saka available on Sunday while Nelson’s return will give Arteta another option in attack as we look to get back to winning ways against the Magpies.
