Arsenal have been handed a nightmare draw after being pitted to face Manchester City [or Newcastle United] in the semi-finals of the 2019/20 FA Cup.

We made life hard for ourselves [yet again] against Sheffield United in the quarter-finals. Nicolas Pepe put Arsenal ahead from the penalty spot in the 25th minute after Alexandre Lacazette was fouled in the box.

Some comical defending involving Rob Holding and Sead Kolasinac gifted Sheffield United an equaliser in the 87th minute but Dani Ceballos came off the bench to score a stoppage time winner to book our place in the last four of the FA Cup for the 30th time.

However, the excitement has now turned to fear as Arsenal have been drawn to face the winner of Man City and Newcastle – who are currently playing at St James’ Park in the last remaining quarter final.

At the time of writing, City are absolutely bossing it and are leading 1-0 just after half-time thanks to a Kevin De Bruyne penalty. It’s only 1-0 but City could easily be 3 or 4 ahead and I fully expect them to ease into the semi-finals.

With Man Utd and Chelsea facing-off in the other semi, this is clearly the worst draw Arsenal could have got. I’d have backed us to go toe-to-toe with United or Chelsea but it’s going to be extremely difficult to beat City.

Pep Guardiola’s side recently thrashed Arsenal 3-0 at the Etihad in the Premier League so they’ll obviously be the firm favourites to progress to the FA Cup final.

Let’s hope we put-in a miracle performance and cause a shock as we need something to look forward to following a disastrous campaign. Better yet, let’s pray Newcastle can somehow turn things around in the second half at St James’ and knock City out!
