Midfielder in London undergoing medical with Arsenal, deal to be announced today
According to Spanish news outlet ABC, Dani Ceballos is undergoing his medical in London and will officially re-join Arsenal on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid today.
Ceballos spent last season on loan at the club and after a slow start to life in England, the midfielder stepped-up to become an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s starting eleven – especially after the restart in June.
The Spaniard formed an excellent partnership with Granit Xhaka in the middle of the park and he played a key role in Arsenal winning the FA Cup following some superb display’s in the latter stages of the competition.
The 24-year-old returned to Madrid this summer but was told he was still not part of Zinedine Zidane’s plans and Arsenal have been working hard to get another deal in place to re-sign the midfielder.
Reports suggest that Arteta played a key role in persuading Ceballos to turn down other offers in favour of a return to the Emirates and Spanish outlet ABC claims the player flew-in to London on Wednesday to finalise the move.
The report says Ceballos is now undergoing his medical in north London and the one-year loan deal is expected to be announced later today once the contracts are signed by all parties.
Ceballos will become our fifth major signing of the summer as Willian and Gabriel have arrived in recent weeks while Cedric Soares and Pablo Mari have made their loan moves permanent.
I’m a big fan of Ceballos and when he performs well, he’s a superb little player. We just need him to perform consistently throughout the entire season as he was poor during the winter months last campaign.
Arteta is reportedly in the market for another midfielder as Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira are expected to leave. Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey seem to be the main targets and I’ll love to see either player come to Arsenal so let’s hope we can get something done soon.
