Arsenal set for major selection boost ahead of Manchester City trip
Arsenal are set to confirm a major boost with Kieran Tierney expected to be made available for Saturday’s trip to Manchester City, according to the Scottish Sun.
Tierney has been self-isolating in Scotland after being in close contact with compatriot Stuart Armstrong, who later tested positive for Covid-19. The pair had been playing computer games in their hotel room while away on international duty.
The left-back insisted he adhered to social distancing guidelines at all times by sitting at least 2 meters away from Armstrong and has returned a negative test himself but Tierney has still been forced to remain in Scotland isolating for the past 11 days.
Arsenal have holding discussions with the Scottish Government in an attempt to persuade them to allow Tierney to travel back to London via private car and Mikel Arteta said yesterday he was hopeful a resolution would be found.
It appears the club have been able to strike an agreement as Scottish Sun journalist Derek McGregor claims Arsenal are poised to confirm Tierney has been allowed to cut short his 14-day isolation.
McGregor says the left-back will therefore be available for Arsenal’s trip to Manchester City tomorrow. He claimed on Twitter:
Arsenal look poised to announce they will have Kieran Tierney available for tomorrow, cutting short his 14-day isolation. As @scotsunsport reported today, expect Celtic to now demand same for Ryan Christie for Rangers showdown.

If true, this will be a huge boost for Arsenal as Tierney is a crucial part of Arteta’s system so let’s hope the club make an announcement soon to confirm the Scottish international will be available tomorrow.
Arsenal head to the Etihad Stadium this weekend off the back of three wins from our opening four Premier League games so Arteta will be hoping to continue that decent run with a positive result against his former side.
