Arsenal have provided an update on Gabriel Martinelli’s injury and confirmed a huge boost with the news the attacker should be back in full training within days.

Martinelli was forced to miss Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup after twisting his ankle during the pre-match warm-up.

The Brazilian was in a lot of pain as he limped down the tunnel and it looked as though he could be set for another spell on the sidelines after Mikel Arteta admitted the early signs didn’t look good.

However, Martinelli was sent for a scan on Monday to determine the full extent of the injury and it seems the results have been extremely positive. Arsenal have confirmed in a team news update on Arsenal.com today that the attacker has already made good progress in his recovery and is expected to resume full training in the next few days.

There is also positive news on Gabriel Magalhaes as the club have confirmed he’s back in full training and will be available for selection when Arsenal take on Crystal Palace on Thursday night.

The final update was for Thomas Partey and the midfielder will be assessed over the coming days before his availability to face Palace is determined. Partey has resumed full training after recovering from a thigh injury so he should be back in contention soon.

The update on Arsenal.com said:

Gabriel Martinelli
Right ankle. Gabi turned his right ankle during the warm-up against Newcastle United on Saturday and was subsequently taken out of the starting line-up.
Gabi has progressed very well and we’re hoping that he will return to full training with the squad in the next few days.

Gabriel Magalhaes
Gabriel is now back in full training and is available for selection for Thursday’s match.

Thomas Partey
Thomas is now back in full training with the squad after recovering from an injury to the left thigh. Thomas continues to regain full fitness and will be assessed ahead of Thursday’s match.

It’s a major relief that Martinelli’s injury isn’t serious as he’s made a significant impact since returning to action from a serious knee injury last month. It would have been a huge blow if he was ruled out again so luckily he could be available to take on Newcastle next Monday.

Gabriel and Partey’s imminent return to action will also be a major boost for Arteta as the boss looks to continue our recent run of form with another win over the Eagles at the Emirates on Thursday night.
