Player to watch: Returning Kieran Tierney vital to Arsenal’s hopes of beating Leeds
Kieran Tierney is expected to be fit for Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Leeds Utd and his return could prove to be vital on Sunday afternoon.
Tierney has missed Arsenal’s last five games in all competitions due to a niggling calf injury that he picked up in training last month but the Scottish international is expected to make his return to action this weekend.
The 23-year-old has established himself as a pivotal cog in Mikel Arteta’s starting eleven this season and was producing some hugely impressive performances before suffering his injury in mid-January.
Tierney’s attacking influence down the left flank was one of Arsenal’s main weapons and his excellent deliveries caused all sorts of problems for opposition defences so it’s safe to say he’s been sorely missed.
Cedric Soares has filled-in admirably in Tierney’s absence but the right-footed right-back just hasn’t posed the same threat down the left side so Arsenal should look a lot more balanced against Leeds on Sunday.
The Gunners have won just one and lost three of the five games Tierney has missed recently – highlighting just how important he’s become at both ends of the pitch – so his return could be catalyst Arsenal need to get back to winning ways.
Time to buy on Football Index?
With Tierney set to return from his injury, now could be a good time to invest in the full-back on Football Index. For those who aren’t aware, Football Index is a revolutionary trading platform where you can buy and sell shares in footballers and win real-money dividends based on player performance. Alternatively, Sorare are another big player in this industry and you can read an in-depth Sorare review here if you want to find out more.
Trading on injuries has been a much-used strategy by FI traders and you can make some good money if you time it right. Tierney was trading with a buy price of around £1.41 last month but has dropped to around £1.17 since he got injured so this could be a good time to invest before he makes his comeback this weekend.
Traders will no doubt buy in to Tierney if, as expected, he starts against Leeds so investing early could prove to be a shrewd move as I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back near £1.40 if he performs well on Sunday. So you could earn some nice capital appreciation plus Tierney has been a strong PB contender on his day.
The Scottish defender has registered six scores over 100 this season and produced a sensational display against West Brom in early January that saw him rack-up a mammoth score of 302 thanks to a game winning goal and an assist to win Star Man and 28p in dividends. Another performance like that against Leeds and Tierney would fly over £1.50 a share.
Arsenal appear to be making progress under Arteta so Tierney’s PB scores could improve during the second half of the season. Plus, the North Londoners have the Europa League Gold Days to look forward to, so the full-back could be a good purchase on FI right now.
