[Videos] Arsenal 6-0 Sevilla: Gabriel Jesus scores hat-trick
Arsenal thrashed Sevilla 6-0 in the Emirates Cup this afternoon with summer signing Gabriel Jesus scoring a superb hat-trick.
The Brazilian international has impressed since arriving from Manchester City earlier in the summer having scored four goals in four pre-season games heading into today’s game. Gabriel wasted no time adding to that tally after scoring Arsenal’s second goal Sevilla in the 13th minute.
Bukayo Saka had opened the scoring in the 10th minute after winning a penalty having been bundled down in the area. Saka dusted himself off to convert the spot-kick to make it 1-0 to the Arsenal.
After Gabriel made it 2-0 with a poachers finish from close range, he made it 3-0 with another neat finish from a lovely Gabriel Martinelli cross in the 15th minute as Arsenal fan riot at the Emirates.
The goals kept coming and we made it 4-0 just minutes later when Saka got his second of the game after pouncing on a loose pass from the Sevilla goalkeeper Bono.
Arsenal continued to cause problems after the break and Gabriel eventually completed his hat-trick in the 77th minute. The 25-year-old found the back of the net to make it 5-0 after a scramble following a corner to finish off a very impressive afternoon for the South American hitman.
There was still time for Arsenal to grab a sixth late on as Gabriel Martinelli broke clear before unselfishly squaring for substitute Eddie Nketiah to tap into the empty net for 6-0.
Gabriel will rightly grab the headlines after his hat-trick, but the entire Arsenal team looked excellent today. There was a real balance throughout the side and we looked electric going forward.
Starting XI: Ramsdale, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko, Partey, Xhaka, Odegaard, Saka, Martinelli, Gabriel
