Villarreal slap £42m asking price on Arsenal target Yeremy Pino
Arsenal are reportedly showing interest in Villarreal starlet Yeremy Pino this summer and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed how much money the Gunners will have to spend to get this deal over the line.
Mikel Arteta’s side are seemingly keen on adding more options to his forward department this summer. Raphinha was supposedly their priority target to bolster the flank, however, after missing out on signing the Brazilian to Barcelona, the Gunners have been forced to look elsewhere and Pino has emerged as the potential target for the Emirates club.
Writing on CaughtOffside, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that three Premier League clubs have been monitoring Yeremy Pino for quite a while but the journalist didn’t mention Arsenal’s name explicitly.
Romano further claims that Villarreal haven’t received any proposals for their starlet yet this summer and they would only consider selling the 19-year-old if someone can match their asking price of more than €50m (£42m).
Romano said:
“Many clubs have been following Yeremi Pino for months, he is a top player of the future that at least three Premier League clubs have been monitoring for some time. No proposals have been made yet to Villarreal, who would like more than €50m for their young star; it will not be an easy negotiation.”
Yeremy Pino to Arsenal
Arsenal appear to be prioritizing to offload their fringe players at this moment – who are not in Mikel Arteta’s plans – before making a final push to add more firepower to their squad towards the back end of the transfer window.
Following the departure of Lucas Torreira, Pablo Mari and Alex Runarsson; Héctor Bellerin and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are also linked with a move away from the Emirates this summer.
So, Arsenal will have to act quickly and finish their transfer business as soon as possible. The club’s hierarchy need to provide enough firepower to Arteta in order to help the Spaniard in achieving success this season.
The Gunners have done great business this summer, having already secured five major additions to the squad. However, they can’t afford to end their transfer business without signing a winger and a midfielder, given the fact that they are thin in numbers in these two departments.
Pino would be a very good addition to the squad if Arsenal can pull off this deal. The forward can play anywhere across the front line and the youngster’s versatility will help the Gunners’ boss in rotating his squad in order to keep his options fresh throughout the season.
