Fabrizio Romano reveals Arsenal are exploring another signing
Arsenal are focussing on offloading unwanted players but are still working ‘under-the-radar’ to bring in another new signing before the window closes, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Gunners have already brought in five new signings this summer with Matt Turner, Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko all arriving in recent weeks.
Mikel Arteta has admitted he wants to further strengthen his squad before the end of the month as the Arsenal boss prepares for a long season back in the Europa League.
Romano claims that Arsenal are currently concentrating on selling unwanted players but are still working ‘under the radar’ on another new signing and are exploring options. Although the transfer expert didn’t mention the exact name of the players that Arteta and Edu are looking at.
Writing on CaughtOffside, Romano said:
“Arsenal’s priority was and still is the outgoings. After Torreira and Pablo Mari, Runarsson has signed on loan to Alanyaspor and Hector Bellerin hopes to terminate the contract to return to Spain as soon as possible.
“Still, I’m aware that Edu and Mikel Arteta are exploring options for another signing, but always with the names under the radar.”
Arsenal’s approach of signing young players with high potential has worked in recent years. Despite missing out on the opportunity to finish in the top four last season, the Gunners improved massively in terms of their on-field displays.
After making progress last season, Arsenal have made some shrewd signings this summer and their performances in the opening two fixtures of this Premier League campaign have provided optimism among the fan base that their beloved club might fight for the big prizes once again in the near future.
However, Arsenal still need to further strengthen their squad if they’re to maintain a top four pursuit and challenge for the cups this season, and Arteta could do with another midfielder and winger. And without addressing these two issues, the north London club could find it difficult to achieve all of their objectives this term.
It’s going to be an interesting final two weeks to the transfer window and Arsenal are going to be busy, not only with outgoings but also possibly another new signing or two.
