Leicester City star Youri Tielemans ‘destined’ to join Arsenal
Arsenal are reportedly ‘destined’ to sign Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans, as per the football journalist Josh Holland.
The 25-year-old is heavily linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium this summer after rejecting an opportunity to sign a contract extension with Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The Belgian’s current deal with the Foxes will expire at the end of this newly-started campaign and it is highly likely that he will leave the club either before this week’s transfer deadline, in January or next summer for free.
Speaking on GiveMeSport, journalist Josh Holland has stated that he thinks Tielemans ‘is destined for a move to Arsenal’ and this could happen either this week or next summer.
The journalist further claims that Arsenal could face competition from Aston Villa for the highly-rated midfielder’s signature, but Steven Gerrard’s side wouldn’t be able to match the Gunners’ financial proposals that they will offer to Tielemans and Leicester.
Holland said:
“I think Tielemans is destined for a move to Arsenal, whether that’s this summer or next summer. I don’t think Villa could offer the finances that Arsenal will.”
Tielemans to join Arsenal
Arsenal have been linked with a move for Tielemans throughout this summer, however, with only a few days remaining in this transfer window, the north London club are yet to find an agreement with Leicester to sign the midfielder.
Multiple reports have suggested that the 25-year-old is the Gunners’ priority target to bolster their midfield department this summer, but they aren’t willing to match the Foxes’ £30m asking price, given the Leicester man will be available for free next summer.
Nevertheless, Arsenal have enjoyed a great start to the new campaign and in order to keep their impressive performances going, they need more reinforcements in their squad, especially in the middle of the park where they are thin on numbers.
Tielemans would be a great acquisition for Arsenal and the Gunners should sign the midfielder up this summer rather than wait for him next year. He has the talent to become a key player in Mikel Arteta’s system and Arsenal can not afford to end their transfer business without strengthening their midfield as they will struggle to cope with the demand of this campaign with only Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka as the midfield options, with Mohamed Elneny the backup.
So, signing a new midfielder is an absolute necessity for Arsenal and the Belgian would be an ideal acquisition for Arteta’s side.
