Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has heaped praises for Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a stellar start to this campaign, scoring three goals in six Premier League appearances. The winger has played a key role in the Gunners’ brilliant start to the season where they won the first five games in a row before facing the first setback last Sunday against the Red Devils.

Meanwhile, speaking on the Premier League Productions (via HITC), Scholes has said that he likes Gabriel Martinelli and the youngster is a great player. The ex-United man also praises the 21-year-old’s dynamism and the ability to score goals from the flanks.

Stating the Brazilian as ‘a breath of fresh air’ the former midfielder claims that the arrival of Gabriel Jesus has taken the pressure off Martinelli which has helped him flourish in this season.

Scholes said:

“He’s great. I really like him. He’s got pace. He has got a goal in him, which is probably the most important thing for that position. He has been a breath of fresh air, along with Jesus coming in. It’s probably taken a little bit of pressure off him because as a young lad, he is expected to score a lot of goals.

“But with Jesus coming in, that seems to have taken the pressure of Martinelli and he is flourishing.”

Scholes is full of praise for Gabriel Martinelli

Gabriel Martinelli joined Arsenal back in 2019 from Brazilian side Ituano. The winger initially struggled with some injury setbacks during his early days at the north London club. However, he started to flourish under Mikel Arteta’s tutelage last season.

The youngster showcased glimpses of his talent last term. He has developed quickly and is displaying excellent performances during the early stages of this season.

Martinelli has already established himself as an integral part of Arteta’s first eleven and the Emirates faithful will be hoping that the youngster will be able to keep on producing excellent performances for Arsenal.

I believe the South American star has the potential to become a world-class forward in future and if he can stay fit, continues to work hard and keeps on displaying excellent performances then he could help Arsenal – along with his teammates – to bring the glory days back to the north London club.
