Zurich vs Arsenal – Turner, Marquinhos and Vieira make debuts
Arsenal begin their Europa League group stage campaign against FC Zurich this evening.
Mikel Arteta has made several changes from the side that lost to Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon. Matt Turner comes in to make his debut between the sticks so Aaron Ramsdale drops to the bench.
Gabriel is the only player to keep his place in the back four as Rob Holding is recalled to make his first start of the season with William Saliba rested. Kieran Tierney is also back in the Arsenal starting eleven at left-back in place of Oleksandr Zinchenko while Takehiro Tomiyasu comes in for Ben White at right-back.
With Thomas Partey and Mo Elneny injured, Arteta has had to stick with Albert Sambi Lokonga and Granit Xhaka in midfield. However, Martin Odegaard is given a rest with Fabio Vieira coming in to make his full debut after coming off the bench against United.
Marquinhos also makes his bow for Arsenal with the Brazilian youngster coming in for Bukayo Saka. However, with Emile Smith Rowe ruled out with a groin injury and Reiss Nelson also missing, Gabriel Martinelli has to start on the left flank once again.
The good news is Gabriel Jesus is given a breather so Eddie Nketiah coming in to make his first start of the season up front.
