Confirmed line-ups: Brentford vs Arsenal: Vieira starts, Odegaard ruled out
Arsenal need a win over Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium this afternoon to reclaim top spot in the Premier League table.
As expected, Mikel Arteta has recalled his big guns after making several changes from his usual starting eleven for Arsenal’s 2-1 win over FC Zurich in the Europa League last time out.
Aaron Ramsdale is recalled to goal with Matt Turner making way while Ben White comes back in for Takehiro Tomiyasu at right-back. Oleksandr Zinchenko has been ruled out with a calf injury that he sustained in training last week so Kieran Tierney continues at left-back.
Arsenal make a change in the middle of defence with William Saliba coming back in after being rested against Zurich. Rob Holding is the man to make way with Gabriel keeping his place in the back four.
Unfortunately, Arsenal have suffered another injury blow with the news that Martin Odegaard misses today’s game with a knock. Fabio Vieira therefore makes his first Premier League start since arriving from Porto in the summer.
Granit Xhaka keeps his place in midfield and Thomas Partey is fit to return after recovering from a thigh injury. Albert Sambi Lokonga drops to the bench.
Bukayo Saka is recalled to start on the right wing for Arsenal. Marquinhos drops back to the bench despite his MOTM display against Zurich last week.
Gabriel Martinelli starts once again on the left flank while Gabriel Jesus returns up front. Eddie Nketiah has to settle for a place on the bench along with 15-year-old Ethan Nwaneri.
These are the line-ups:
Brentford
Raya, Hickey, Jansson, Ajer, Mee, Henry, Janelt, Jensen, Dasilva, Mbeumo, Toney
Subs: Strakosha, Janelt, Wissa, Canos, Ghoddos, Onyeka, Baptiste, Damsgaard, Roerslev.
Arsenal
Ramsdale; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Tierney; Partey, Xhaka, Vieira; Saka, Jesus, Martinelli.
Subs: Turner, Nketiah, Holding, Tomiyasu, Lokonga, Marquinhos, Smith, Nwaneri, Lino Sousa.
