[Ratings & Video goals] Brentford 0-3 Arsenal: Jesus & Saliba star as Vieira scores stunner
Arsenal moved back to the top of the Premier League table with a dominating 3-0 win over Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium this afternoon.
Arsenal broke the deadlock inside the opening 20 minutes when William Saliba glanced home a wonderful header from a Bukayo Saka corner. We were in control of the game and doubled our advantage when Gabriel Jesus found the top corner with a superb header from a superb Granit Xhaka cross in the 28th minute.
The Gunners kept pushing for got a third goal just after half-time when Fabio Vieira fired home a stunning strike off the post from 25 yards on his full Premier League debut.
Ethan Nwareni made history after coming on for the final two minutes to become the youngest player ever to play in the Premier League aged just 15 and 181 days as Arsenal cruised to an impressive 3-0 win.
Here are my ratings:
Ramsdale 6.5/10 | Not too much to do in terms of shot stopping but did make a good save from Mikkel Daamsgaard to keep his clean sheet. Good distribution too.
White 7/10 | Another solid outing at right-back. Didn’t offer much going forward but was a rock at the back.
Saliba 8.5/10 | Another terrific all-round performance. Lovely glancing header opened the scoring. So calm and composed in defence, and dealt with the threat of Toney with ease. Such a huge prospect.
Gabriel 7.5/10 | Overcame a knock in the first half to put-in a top performance. Kept Toney and Mbuemo quiet and was good with the ball at his feet.
Tierney 7.5/10 | One of his best performances of the season. Gave nothing away in defence and was always bombing forward to join the attacks.
Partey 7.5/10 | Great to have him back in the starting eleven and he was very good today. Bossed the midfield and controlled the game. Arsenal certainly miss him when he’s not playing.
Xhaka 8/10 | Superb ball to set-up Gabriel for Arsenal’s second goal. Capped another excellent display from the Swiss international, who’s playing some of the best football of his career.
Vieira 7.5/10 | Announced himself with a stunning 25-yard goal to make it 3-0 on his full debut. Was involved in some nice exchanges as he continues to work his way back to full match fitness.
Saka 7.5/10 | A constant threat and worked his socks off. Great corner set-up the first goal and also got an assist for the Vieira goal. Almost got himself on the scoresheet but was denied by a terrific save.
Martinelli 7/10 | Another tireless performance from the Brazilian. Always involved in Arsenal’s attacks and could have got himself a goal early on.
Jesus 9/10 | Superb all-round display. Wonderful header made it 2-0 and forced Raya into a couple of good saves as well. Worked so hard off the ball and he caused Brentford all sorts of problems throughout the game.
Subs:
Lokonga 6.5/10 | On to help see out the game.
Nketiah 6.5/10 | Decent late cameo.
Tomiyasu N/A | On too late.
Nwareni N/A | On too late, but made history to become the youngest ever Premier League player at just 15.
Marquinhos N/A | On too late.
