Former striker Alan Shearer was full of praise for Gabriel Jesus after the Brazilian’s excellent display in Arsenal’s victory against Brentford.

The Gunners breezed past a tricky challenge of Thomas Frank’s side by 3-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday. William Saliba opened the account early on for the north London club before Jesus doubled the margin before the interval. Fabio Vieira sealed the game early into the second half – with a brilliant long-range strike – in his full Premier League debut.

Following this victory, Mikel Arteta’s side remained at the top of the league with 18 points from seven games. Arsenal will face Tottenham Hotspur in the next game when the Premier League resumes following the conclusion of the international break and an extra spice has been added into that game, given Spurs are just one point behind at the moment.

Meanwhile, writing on the BBC, ex-forward Alan Shearer has heaped praise on Gabriel Jesus and said that the former Manchester City man has been excellent since joining Arsenal in the summer. Shearer adds that the striker has made the second highest goal contributions this season in the Premier League just behind Erling Braut Haaland.

The Englishman further stated that Jesus is the Gunners’ ‘real game-changer’ in this term. The 25-year-old has already established himself as an integral part of Arteta’s first eleven with his work rate and productivity in front of the goal.

Shearer lauds Gabriel Jesus

Shearer said:

“Gabriel Jesus has been brilliant since joining from Manchester City in the summer, and with four goals and three assists so far only Erling Haaland (with 11) has been involved in more Premier League goals than him this season.

“We’ve seen Arteta improve the likes of Xhaka, who showed great desire and determination against Brentford, but Jesus is Arsenal’s real game-changer for me. His move was seen as his opportunity to be the main man after often being on the bench at City and he has certainly taken it so far.

“Jesus is already a huge part of what Arsenal are about now – it’s not just his goals and creativity that make him so important to them, it’s his relentless energy and willingness to run in behind defences too.”

Arsenal have started to showcase consistency this season that they lacked in the previous campaigns. Despite being plagued with injuries in recent times, the north London club continue to shine seamlessly.

So, it is not just a coincidence that they are currently at the top of the league, they have been showcasing excellent displays since the start of this term and they deserve to be where they are at the moment.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Jesus is not the only player who should get all the plaudits for Arsenal’s impressive display as it is a collective effort. Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Granit Xhaka and William Saliba have all been excellent so far this season.
