Arsenal ready to rekindle their interest in Juventus star Locatelli
Arsenal are reportedly ready to renew their interest in Juventus midfielder Manuel Locatelli, as per the Italian outlet Calciomercato.
Massimiliano Allegri’s side signed the 24-years-old last summer from Sassuolo on an initial two-year loan deal, with the obligation to buy for around £22m. Since joining the Bianconeri the midfielder has made 36 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and notching up five assists.
The Gunners were previously linked with a move for the Italy international before his switch to the Allianz Stadium and it appears that the north London club are ready to revive their interest in purchasing the Juve star.
According to the Calciomercato, Locatelli has failed to impress Bianconeri boss Allegri during his time at the Old Lady of Turin. Arsenal have already been made aware of the 24-years-old’s current situation and are set to rekindle their long-term interest in the former Sassuolo man.
The Italy international is valued at around £31m by Transfermarkt and a fee similar to that sum could be enough to get this deal over the line if the Gunners were to make a move for the talented midfielder.
Locatelli to Arsenal
Locatelli would be a great addition to the Arsenal squad. The 24-years-old is technically sound, can play threading passes between the lines and also has an eye for long-range passing. So, he has every attribute to play in Arteta’s system.
However, there might be some concern about whether it would be the right decision to sign him, given he has failed to shine at the Allianz Stadium.
Nevertheless, the midfielder is still young and has the potential to become a world-class player in future. So, Arteta’s side shouldn’t give up on an opportunity to sign the Italian if he becomes available in the winter transfer window.
Arsenal were also linked with a move for Douglas Luiz and Youri Tielemans in recent times. So, it will be interesting to see what Mikel Arteta’s side decide to do about their midfield department, signing a new midfielder in January would be a shrewd decision by the club’s hierarchy and Locatelli would be an ideal option.
