Arsenal receive double injury boost but suffer a huge fresh blow
Arsenal have received a double injury boost but face a huge fresh blow ahead of Saturday’s Premier League encounter against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Gunners have been struggling with their injury issues in recent weeks as Mohamed Elneny, Emile Smith Rowe, Reiss Nelson and Oleksandr Zinchenko have all been sidelined with their respective problems.
Martin Odegaard couldn’t feature in last weekend’s fixture against Brentford due to an injury and it was initially thought that he might have sustained a serious issue after the Norway boss Stale Solbakken revealed last week that the 23-years-old wasn’t feeling well.
However, the midfielder started in Norway’s Nations League fixture against Slovenia last Saturday and played 71 minutes before being substituted. Therefore, it was a minor issue that kept him out of action last weekend. Solbakken’s side still have to play against Serbia before the club football resumes and it will be interesting to see whether Odegaard will feature in that game, but he should be fit for club duty on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Kieran Tierney was taken off before the interval after picking up a head injury while playing for Scotland versus Ireland last weekend and it is now revealed that there is nothing serious in his injury and he will be fit enough to start for Arsenal against Tottenham.
However, the most concerning news is that Thomas Partey has sustained another injury after just recovering from a thigh issue. The Ghana FA has confirmed that the 29-years-old has picked up a fresh injury to his knee during the international break and has been granted permission to leave the national camp early and return to London to assess the severity of his issue.
Arsenal receive a double injury boost but suffer a huge fresh blow
Thomas Partey’s injury issues are now becoming a big problem for Arsenal. After an injury-plagued season last term, the midfielder has now started the new campaign in a similar manner. So, the Gunners might have to think about their future without the Ghanaian if the situation remains like this throughout the season.
Arteta’s side entered the recently concluded transfer window with the need of signing a new midfielder. But, despite being linked with several options, they failed to sign one before the deadline. And amid their injury crisis, it appears that they have made a mistake by not adding more options to their engine room this summer.
So, it will be interesting to see how the north Lonon club can cope with the demand of this season with very few options in their midfield department.
Nevertheless, despite struggling with their injury issues, Mikel Arteta’s side have been continuing to shine and performing excellently in the early stages of this season. Arsenal are currently top of the table with 18 points from seven games, one point ahead of second-placed Manchester City.
