Joe Cole has heaped praise on Arsenal star Fabio Vieira after the Portuguese midfielder’s impressive performance during the Gunners’ win against Bodo/Glimt.
Mikel Arteta’s side were in action on Thursday night in the Europa League versus the Norwegian champions and managed to come away with a comfortable 3-0 victory at the Emirates.
Eddie Nketiah opened the account for Arsenal midway through the first half before Rob Holding doubled the margin before the interval. Vieira secured the victory late in the game for Arteta’s side with an excellent measured strike.
Following this victory, the Gunners have now moved up to the top of Group A with six points from two games, two points ahead of second-placed PSV Eindhoven.
Speaking as a pundit on BT Sport after the game, quoted by the Metro, Cole praised Arsenal’s summer signing Fabio Vieira’s superb display against Kjetil Knudsen’s side and said that the 22-year-old possesses ‘an absolute velvet left foot’ and the youngster is a ‘fantastic player’.
Cole heaps praise on Vieira
Cole said:
“Everything he[Vieira] does, he’s one of those technicians where everything is with purpose. ‘He’s one of them, an absolute velvet left foot, this kid can do anything. He’s got the competition in Martin Odegaard, one of club captains, part of the leadership group, but this guy is a fantastic player.”
Arsenal signed Fabio Vieira, out of nowhere, from FC Porto for a fee of around £34m this summer and after watching his traits in the first few games, it appears that the Gunners have done shrewd business in signing the 22-year-old.
The youngster has looked excellent in possession and he has the ability to unlock the opposition’s defence with threading passes between the lines. He can also deliver excellent crosses from set-pieces and his composure with the ball is one of the highlights of his game. So, the Portuguese ace has the potential to become a world-class midfielder going forward.
Therefore, Vieira has seemingly been a great coup for Arsenal this summer. The fans will be hoping he’ll be able to develop and reach his full potential at the Emirates Stadium under Arteta’s tutelage and help the club win big prizes in future.
