Confirmed line-ups: Arsenal vs Liverpool – No Tierney or Zinchenko
Arsenal get back to Premier League action as we take on Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon.
As expected, Mikel Arteta has made plenty of changes from the side that beat Bodo Glimt in the Europa League on Thursday night with all of his big guns recalled to the starting eleven today.
Aaron Ramsdale returns in goal after being rested so Matt Turner makes way while Ben White comes in at right-back. William Saliba will be looking to continue his excellent early season form as he is recalled to partner Gabriel in the middle of Arsenal’s defence.
Kieran Tierney is only named on the bench while Oleksandr Zinchenko misses out completely so Takehiro Tomiyasu starts at left-back. Rob Holding has to settle for a place among the substitutes despite scoring and putting in a solid display last time out.
Thomas Partey was given a breather in the Europa League so he comes back into the side with Granit Xhaka once again starting for the Gunners. Albert Sambi Lokonga drops to the bench along with Fabio Vieira as Martin Odegaard comes back into the side.
Bukayo Saka returns on the right flank for Arsenal while Gabriel Martinelli starts once again on the left. Marquinhos drops to the bench along with Eddie Nketiah – who has to make-do with a sub role today as Gabriel Jesus is recalled to lead the line up front.
As for Liverpool, big-money summer signing Darwin Nunez starts in attack along with Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz so Jurgen Klopp is named an attacking line-up for the match.
