Arsenal plotting swoop for Eintracht Frankfurt ace Evan Ndicka
Arsenal are reportedly contemplating a swoop for Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka, as per the Italian outlet Il Romanista.
The 23-year-old joined the Bundesliga club back in 2018 from French side AJ Auxerre. Since joining the Deutsche Bank Park the Frenchman has established himself as a regular starter and made 143 appearances in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and notching up nine assists. The defender also played a key role in the Eagles’ Europa League triumph last season.
According to the report by Il Romanista, AS Roma are keen on making a move for the Frankfurt ace in the upcoming transfer window, however, they are set to face stern competition from Premier League clubs with Arsenal being in front of the race.
The defender’s current deal with Oliver Glasner’s side is set to expire at the end of this season and it appears Ndicka might not want to prolong his stay at Frankfurt beyond this campaign.
Therefore, the Frenchman – who is valued at around £29m by the Transfermarkt – will be available for a cut-price fee in January, otherwise, he would be a free agent at the end of this season.
Ndicka to Arsenal
Evan Ndicka will be an excellent acquisition for Arsenal. The 23-year-old is quick, strong, brilliant in the air and also can play out from the back, so, the youngster possesses almost every attribute to become a world-class centre-back in future.
However, the Gunners already have Ben White, Gabriel Magalhães, Rob Holding and William Saliba in the squad while Takehiro Tomiyasu can also play as centre-back if needed. Therefore, the north London club are stacked on numbers in that department.
However, despite having enough options in their backline, Mikel Arteta’s side should go all out to sign the Frenchman, given a talented player like Ndicka is set to become available for free next summer.
So, it will be interesting to see whether Arsenal will intensify their interest in Ndicka in the upcoming transfer window. With Gabriel Magalhães having looked shaky in the opening few games of this season, lining up a replacement for the Brazilian would be a wise decision should the 24-year-old continue to make mistakes going forward.
