Arsenal predicted line-up against PSV Eindhoven
Following a hard-fought victory against Leeds United last weekend, Arsenal are set to focus on their Europa League duty this evening as they take on PSV Eindhoven at the Emirates Stadium.
This fixture was initially scheduled to take place last month but was postponed due to Queen Elizabeth’s demise and is now rescheduled for tonight.
The Gunners have been enjoying a great spell in recent times as they are currently unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions, winning all of those matches. So, they will be eyeing to make it eight wins out of eight this evening.
Arsenal are currently leading Group A with an unblemished record, nine points from three games, while PSV are just behind them in second with seven points from as many games. So, the north London club have a great chance of extending their lead at the top with a victory in this fixture, while Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side will be looking for a win to leapfrog Arsenal into top spot.
Expected Arsenal line-up
Mikel Arteta could make some changes to his squad in this fixture from last Sunday’s win over Leeds United.
Matt Turner has started in all three previous Europa League encounters this term and he is expected to return to the starting eleven for tonight’s fixture. Therefore, Aaron Ramsdale will be given a midweek break.
Rob Holding could also start but it will be interesting to see who he will be paired up with in the Arsenal defence this evening. In the first two Europa League fixtures, Gabriel Magalhães started alongside the former Bolton man, but William Saliba was deployed there away to Bodo/Glimt. So, the Frenchman might keep his place alongside Holding against PSV.
Kieran Tierney should return to his preferred left-back position after starting on the bench last weekend and Takehiro Tomiyasu could be on the opposite side, giving Ben White a breather. Although Arteta didn’t rule out Oleksandr Zinchenko’s availability, this fixture might be too early for him to start.
Albert Sambi Lokonga should be the deep-lying midfielder for Arsenal. Granit Xhaka and Martin Odegaard might be the two more advanced midfielders. Therefore, Thomas Partey is expected to drop to the bench along with Fabio Vieira.
Gabriel Martinelli is in doubt ahead of this fixture due to illness and if he is deemed unfit to start ahead of the game then Reiss Nelson would be on the left and Bukayo Saka should start on the other flank. Eddie Nketiah is set to lead the line for Arsenal with Gabriel Jesus given a rest this evening.
