Arsenal reach an agreement to sign Eintracht Frankfurt star Evan Ndicka
Arsenal have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka for free at the end of this season, as per the Italian outlet Il Romanista.
The 23-year-old joined the Bundesliga side back in 2018 from French club AJ Auxerre for a fee of around £4m. Following his move to Frankfurt, the defender took no time to establish himself as a regular starter at the Deutsche Bank Park. He played a key role in Olivier Glasner’s side’s Europa League triumph last season.
The Frenchman’s current deal is set to expire within six months. Fabrizio Romano previously stated that it is highly unlikely that the left-footed centre-back would be prolonging his stay at Deutsche Bank Park beyond this term.
Meanwhile, the Evening Standard reported back in October that Arsenal are looking to take advantage of Ndicka’s current situation and are keen on signing him up in January as competition for Gabriel Magalhaes.
Evan Ndicka to Arsenal
However, according to the report by Il Romanista, Evan Ndicka is set to leave Eintracht Frankfurt as a free agent at the end of this season and Arsenal have already reached an agreement to lure him to the Emirates Stadium for free next summer.
If this report is considered to be true then it can be said that signing Ndicka – who is valued at around £27m by Transfermarkt – for nothing would be a great piece of business by the Gunners. Many clubs around Europe were eyeing a move for the highly-defender but, in the end, Arsenal have seemingly won the race for his signature.
The Frenchman is quick, strong, decent in the air and can play out from the back. So, he possesses almost every attribute to play in Mikel Arteta’s system. In addition, he’s left footed, which is something that Arteta has been looking for in a centre-back.
Meanwhile, following the conclusion of the World Cup 2022, Arsenal will return to action on boxing day when they will welcome city rivals West Ham United in the Premier League. After that, they will travel to the AMEX Stadium to face off against Brighton & Hove Albion on new year’s Eve.
