Arsenal on the brink of winning the race for Evan Ndicka
Arsenal are reportedly on the brink of winning the race for Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka, as per the transfer insider Dean Jones.
The 23-year-old’s current deal is set to expire at the end of this season and previously Fabrizio Romano reported that the Frenchman is highly unlikely to prolong his stay at Deutsche Bank Park beyond this term. And he is expected to leave the club as a free agent next summer.
A recent report claimed that the Gunners have already reached an agreement to sign the talented defender for free and he is likely to move to the Emirates Stadium following the conclusion of this campaign.
Meanwhile, speaking to GiveMeSport, Dean Jones has backed the previous report and said that Arsenal are edging closer towards signing Ndicka and it is starting to look likely that they will eventually get this deal over the line.
Evan Ndicka to Arsenal
The journalist further states that many teams around Europe were eyeing a move for the 23-year-old, but the north London club’s resurgence under Mikel Arteta this campaign has helped the Spanish boss’ side in placing themselves in the pole position to secure the deal.
When asked whether Arsenal are indeed on the brink of signing Ndicka, Dean Jones told GiveMeSport:
“It’s starting to look like they’ll get their man there. Arsenal aren’t the only team that wanted him. He’s been getting offers from all around Europe. But their good season has put them in a good position.”
It appears Arteta’s side are looking ahead of time and are already preparing to strengthen the squad for next season. Taking advantage of Ndicka’s current contract situation and agreeing a pre-contract deal to sign the Frenchman – who is valued at around £27m by Transfermarkt – for free next summer would be an excellent business.
However, I think Arsenal are thin on numbers in the engine room and the forward department and adding depth in those two areas should be the priority for the north London club this January. This would help Arteta in mounting a title charge plus achieving success in other competitions this term.
They have already been linked with a move for several options before the commencement of the winter window and, it will be fascinating to see who will be the potential signings for Arsenal in January.
