Arsenal leading the race to sign Juventus star Rabiot
Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, as per the Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb.
The 27-year-old’s current contract at the Allianz Stadium is set to expire at the end of this season and it appears the Frenchman might not prolong his stay at the Old Lady of Turin beyond this term.
A previous report claimed that Rabiot is asking for a financial package of around £9m per annum to sign a new deal with Massimiliano Allegri’s side. However, the record Italian champions only want to offer a wage of around £6m per year – which is his current remuneration – to keep the midfielder. As a consequence of that, the negotiations between Bianconeri and Rabiot regarding a new contract have stalled.
According to the report by Calciomercatoweb, following an impressive World Cup campaign, the 27-year-old has attracted attention from many Premier League clubs, with Arsenal being one of them.
The report further claims that Mikel Arteta’s side have now jumped to the front of the queue to sign Rabiot for free next summer.
Adrien Rabiot to Arsenal
Adrien Rabiot could be an excellent acquisition for Arsenal. The France international has experience playing at the highest level, can play anywhere across the middle of the park, is technically sound and is dynamic enough to press the opposition higher up the field.
Therefore, with the Gunners seemingly looking to reinforce in the middle of the park in the upcoming transfer window, the Juventus man – who is valued at around £22m by Transfermarkt – could be an ideal option if he were to join the club.
Youri Tielemans is also linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium and he is also set to be available for free at the end of this season.
Arsenal haven’t signed a single player over the age of 25, in recent times. So, keeping that in mind, Tielemans might be the more probable option for Arsenal and a previous report stated that the Emirates outfit have already agreed on personal terms with the 25-year-old to sign him next summer.
Hence, it will be interesting to see who Arteta will decide to purchase next year to bolster the engine room. Signing both Rabiot and Tielemans could be a shrewd decision as it would give Arsenal real depth in midfield.
