Arsenal still keen on signing Leicester ace Youri Tielemans
Arsenal are reportedly still interested in signing Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans, as per the transfer insider Dean Jones.
The 25-year-old’s current contract is set to expire at the end of this season and it seems the Belgian has decided not to renew his deal at the King Power Stadium.
The Gunners are expected to be busy in the January transfer market strengthening the squad to help Mikel Arteta in mounting a title charge this term, and they are working hard on new signings.
Arsenal are seemingly looking to reinforce their attacking department this winter and they have already made two official proposals to purchase Mykhaylo Mudryk. It has widely been reported that Atlético Madrid forward Joao Felix is also on their radar to strengthen the forward line following Gabriel Jesus’ injury.
Fabrizio Romano previously stated that after bolstering the attack, Arsenal could look to sign a new midfielder towards the final few days of this window.
Youri Tielemans to Arsenal
Now, speaking to GiveMeSport, Dean Jones has claimed that Arsenal are still looking to strengthen in the middle of the park. The Emirates outfit believe they lack a ‘certain profile of player’ in the engine room.
Tielemans was strongly linked with a move to Arsenal last summer and Jones says he is still on their radar along with Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister.
Dean Jones said:
“I think that they are still concerned about lacking a certain profile of player within their squad, and that is one of the reasons that these players [Mac Allister and Tielemans] continue to be linked and why Tielemans is still on the radar.”
Despite being linked with a move for Tielemans since last summer, Arsenal are yet to make a concrete approach to sign him. Therefore, it will be interesting to see whether Arsenal will decide to purchase the Leicester man for a cut-price deal in January or for free next summer.
A previous report stated that the Foxes are demanding a fee of around £17m to sell the Belgian this winter. And signing the midfielder – who is valued at around £35m by Transfermakt – for the aforementioned £17m fee would be an absolute bargain for Arsenal.
