Arsenal join race to sign Greek starlet Konstantelias
Arsenal have reportedly joined the race to sign PAOK youngster Giannis Konstantelias, as per the Evening Standard.
After coming through the PAOK academy, the 19-year-old made his senior debut back in 2021. The youngster has been a regular first-team member in Razvan Lucescu’s starting eleven this term, assisting twice in 11 Super League appearances.
According to the report by Evening Standard, having displayed impressive performances in recent times, the Greek has attracted Arsenal’s attention and Mikel Arteta’s side are set to send scouts to monitor Konstantelias’ development.
The report further claims that signing the youngster won’t be easy for the north London club as other than the Gunners, several Premier League rivals as well as other European teams are also showing a keen interest.
The report also says that Arsenal would need to spend a fee of around £10m to purchase the talented midfielder this January. But, if the Gunners were to be able to broker a deal for him then the 19-year-old is likely to remain on loan at the Toumba Stadium until the end of this season.
Giannis Konstantelias to Arsenal
Giannis Konstantelias is a versatile midfielder who can play anywhere across the attacking midfield position plus he has the ability to play in the centre-forward role as well.
Therefore, the PAOK man could be an excellent acquisition for Arsenal and his versatility would be an asset for Arteta. However, Konstantelias would be a signing for the future.
He needs time to develop and flourish in the Premier League. So, the fans should not impose the pressure of expectations just yet if the youngster moves to the Emirates Stadium this winter.
Arsenal are always in search of young talents and they have signed several youngsters with high potential since Edu Gasper took charge as the technical director.
Hence, it will be fascinating to see whether Arsenal will continue their hunt for new talents and make a move for Konstantelias this winter.
Arsenal are expected to make several acquisitions this January to bolster their squad in order to mount a title charge this term. Midfield and attack are the two areas where they are seemingly looking to reinforce.
It has widely been touted that Mykhaylo Mudryk and Joao Felix are Areta’s primary targets to strengthen the attack. While Youri Tielemans, Adrien Rabiot and Danilo are also being linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium as potential targets to bolster the engine room.
So, it remains to be seen whether the Gunners will have enough time or economic strength to sign Konstantelias this January after strengthening priority departments.
